Fireworks, skate park competition highlight July 4

Lots of activities are planned for Clyde on July 4. It will be celebrated with fireworks at dusk set off on the south side of the Clyde Reservoir on South Main Street.



The new Lions Club Skate Park grand opening will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 4 with Competition Skate and Exhibition Skate by local youths. Check-in time is 10:30 a.m. Exhibition starts at 11 a.m. Competition starts immediately after the exhibition.

All participants must check-in at the judges' table before the event starts to be eligible to skate. One must register to be called upon to skate. Plan to arrive about 10:30 a.m.

Exhibition Skate is open to all ages. Complete details and entry forms can be found online at skate.ClydeOhio.org or by calling Justin LaBenne at 419-547-3545. The skate park is at Gus Wolfe Park between Vine and Maple streets. The entrance is on Vine.

The Clyde Aquatic Center is offering fun and games for kids of all ages on July 4.

Garage sale days on July 24 and 25

Other upcoming Clyde events are garage sale days from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 24 and 25.

If one lives within the city limits of Clyde, a permit must be purchased. The cost of a permit is $1. Permits can be purchased at the Clyde Finance Office, 225 N. Main St., across from the city building.

Kelly-Miller Circus coming in August

The Clyde Lions Club is bringing the Kelly-Miller Circus to Clyde on Aug. 2.

Two shows will be held, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m., on the grounds of the Clyde Eagles on South Main Street.

Advance tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for kids age 12 and younger. Advance ticket sales are less than at the gate and can be purchased at Halls Wine R We and the Old Fort Banking Co. or online at kellymillercircus.com.

Library happenings:

Wednesday is movie night for adults at 6 p.m. at the Clyde Public Library.

The movie this week is "The Avengers." Refreshments will be served. To be entered in a biweekly prize drawing, patrons must either check out a book or attend a movie night.



Technology instructor Rachel Henck will cover "Buying a New Computer" at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the library meeting room. Register for this free program at 419-547-7174.

Summer Public Library Activities for Teens meets from 3 to 4:30 p.m. every Thursday. For more information, go to clydesplat.blogspot.com.

Summer Reading Club continues. Barney the Clown will make balloon animals at 1:30 p.m. Monday. Magie Nate will perform a magic show at 6 p.m.June 30. The theme is "Every Hero has a Story."
